i must admit i was totally unaware of this movie until about a month and a half ago when my homie Marisa introduced me to it. initially upon first viewing i was DOG ASS TIRED from hitting up 5 cities in the course of 4 days and playing/partying/spinning hard during said days and although i recognized that the movie was funny as hell i fell asleep on it. i mean, when jet lag catches up to you, there's NOTHING you can do about it but just go head and fall de' fuck out.
at any rate, i went to Best Buy and copped the unrated version for 9.99. i suggest you do the same because the shit is hilarical yo, sooooooooo many parts that'll have you in rewind mode. here's one of the outtakes...

inspiration hits again, finally...

other than distancing myself from some bullshit and whipping myself back into shape behind the MPC3000, these last few weeks i've been in sort of a rut lately as far as posting here and if you haven't noticed, the rapid rate in which i've been doing mixes has slowed down considerably. but have no fear, ya boy is returning with a vengeance with a few things on deck...
first off, the long awaited follow up to "Pizza At Primo's". i did a rough 79:45 blueprint of it a couple weeks ago and there were a few spots where i think i went overboard with the backspins and i think i might've gone a little TOO sample heavy towards the end of it so allow me a little more time to fine tune it before unleashing it on you all. the intro is absolute FUEGO and i have to make sure everything else flows as smoothly as the first installment. the pressure's on but i'm up to the challenge...
i'm also doing a couple mixtape projects with my fellow Aphilliate Don Cannon as well, just in time for the summer...
and of course, Eargasms 5 is long overdue from ya boy. don't worry, i got chu covered...

the Nike Mariah (I NEED THESE!!! part 3)

this sneaker may not look like much to y'all but the significance to me is that this was a fly ass (and super lightweight) running shoe that i used to drool over and covet. guess i should give my fath, uh mom's sperm donor a little credit, for it was he that first made me take an interest in having fly sneakers.
just like i now take pride in having multiple fresh pairs of 1's and J's and Dunks or Gucci high tops laying around the crib for various occasions, he used to have a couple pairs of Nike Mariahs laying around to run road races and marathons in, a couple pair to cut the yard in, or a fresh pair to drive around the city and holla at broads in, lol.
i guess you could say that although we're totally different people (cause his personal style at times was kinda ehhh...), we're sorta the same haha...
I NEED THESE!!! (part two)

as a lil' nappy headed youngin, i used to do a lot of running for sport. distance running was primarily my thing. anything from the 5K up to a half-marathon i had it covered and while i never had dreams of becoming an Olympian, the mere fact that there were no other kids in my age group in my immediate hood who could do what i was doing was accomplishment enough.
runners that i looked up to (to the dismay of my fath, uh mom's sperm donor) and read up on a lot back then were Bill Rodgers (4 time winner of both the prestigious Boston Marathon and the New York City Marathon, wow!!!) and Rod Dixon ('83 New York City Marathon winner).
now what the fuck does this really have to do with the picture of the sneaks you ask?
well...

Rod Dixon exclusively wore Saucony joints and even though i was a Nike head (still am to this day), the Saucony joints were some of the illest, not to mention, most comfortable running shoes known to man and i one day pictured myself running the Peachtree Road Race in a pair. i ran the race twice back in the day and once i get my distance game back up, i plan on running it next year for fun, and in a pair of these...
of course, being the sneaker fiend that i am as well, i GOTS ta have a couple pair just to kick around while touring the world so you already know the drill...
holla at cha boi and nem'

I NEED THESE!!!
yet more playoff talk (with video)
so...
a few interesting things have happened in the playoffs since i checked in last.
Toronto, Philadelphia, Dallas, Phoenix, and Denver (courtesy of the broom Kobe and Pau brought out) have been sent home to go fishing for the summer. i can't say that i was all that surprised about Toronto and Denver. the Raptors just didn't match up very well with Orlando, and Denver had too many distractions amongst themselves to even attempt to deal with The Black Mamba and nem'.
CP3 single handedly destroyed the Mavericks (i personally witnessed Game 4 and i have video to prove it but for some reason photobucket isn't cooperating with me. check myspace.com/djjaycee, the videos are there under the blog titled the same as this one...)
yeah the Mavs got that ass STOMPED and Avery was sent packing after the Game 5 loss in New Orleans. not sure if the JKidd trade was worth all that. Jason, Josh, and Dirk must toughen the fuck up and get it together next year.
i hate mentioning this team so i avoid it when at all necessary so CP3, PLEASE do us basketball fans a FAVOR and do a repeat performance of your work against Dallas on them. thank you...
i'd really like to see T-Mac make it outta the first round for once in his career but the odds of it happening aren't that great against Utah, in Utah. yeah they've beaten them there before (i was even there at the home opener November 1st with my homie Big Pooh from Little Brother) but for some reason i don't see it happening tonight. y'all are welcome to prove me wrong though...
in the Eastern Conference i don't think ANYONE expected the Hawks to take 2 straight from the Celtics. i know i didn't and to tell the absolute truth, i wasn't rooting for them but i'm actually glad they won because it made the series interesting as fuck. they kinda reverted to their norm for Game 5 (a blowout loss) but IF they win Game 6 tonight i just MIGHT be willing to give them a shot in Game 7 on Sunday. now wouldn't that be the TRUE UPSET OF THE YEAR if the Hawks (of all teams) eliminated the Celtics in the first round???
glad my Pistons finally got it together and got Philly up outta here. now we gotta tell Orlando to go head and raise up as well...
LeBron's gonna go ahead and close Washington's season out tonight and more than likely have another party at Love immediately afterwards where the DJ will play Jay-Z's "Blow The Whistle" for a half hour straight. mark my words. Love is one spot i wish i could be at tonight, dammit man...
so yeah, Detroit beats Orlando. Cleveland beats Washington only to meet Boston and lose therefore setting up a Detroit-Boston matchup in the Eastern Conference Finals. as i've said before, my allegiance is to the Pistons but i won't be mad if the Celtics win it all simply because KG and Ray Allen DESERVE a ring for all the suffering they've had to do on bad teams previously...
New Orleans beats them to run into the Lakers for the Western Conference Finals.
Lakers-Celtics (Pistons) in the NBA Finals this year, holla at ya boy....

i'm also NICE in the kitchen too...
i've had a love affair with paella since '97, when my old roommate Maurice introduced me to this restaurant on Peachtree called La Fonda Latina. so much so that's it's become one of my instant ''go-to" spots whenever my stomach calls. so much so that one day i vowed to attempt to make it at home. well...
that day finally came. and after a quick phone convo with my good friend Sunny from The Food Network (watch "Cooking For Real with Sunny Anderson" every Sunday morning at 10:30am), here's what happened...
