it's a Detroit thang, you wouldn't understand. (part one)

one night while browsing YouTube, i came across some old ass commercials and shows i used to watch on tv when i lived in the city. a slight tear began to fall (lol!!) so i had to repost them here. if you're from the D like i am, you'll enjoy these clips. if not, it's all good. this post really isn't for you to understand anyway, haha...

the old Detroit Zoo joint

who DOESN'T remember the Highland Appliance commercials?

or Ollie Fretter?

and what about these nigtastic commercials on Channel 62? (take special note of the R.J. Rice studio commercial, that's where the late J Dilla (RIP) crafted a lot of the memorable Slum Village material at, in MY hood nigga! it used to be the old Northland Mall movie theater that me and my cousins used to walk to and catch flicks at)

and speaking of Channel 62, most of us tuned into that channel to watch The Scene ahem, The New Dance Show. it was our local version of Soul Train (ha!) hosted by the one and only Nat Morris. don't front, your city probably had their own version of it too ("cough" Atlanta Jamz "cough") but i'm sure it wasn't as niggtacular as these clips, lol...

if you thought THAT was fresh, bust this...

i'll be back with more joints later...
